The Lord is my shepherd
Does Not mean that my pastor or my religion is my shepherd!
“Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life.” – John 5:24
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
Religion may be defined as a cultural system of designated behaviors and practices, world views, texts, sanctified places, prophesies, ethics, or organizations, that relate humanity to the supernatural, transcendental or spiritual.
Merriam Webster says religion is
: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices
There are many religions, such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism. Shinto is a religion that is unique to Japan. They all have different cultural beliefs. The question is, which religion should you believe in or practice? I’ll say this, virtually every religion in the world views Jesus as a prophet and/or a good teacher. And while those things are most definitely true of Jesus, they do not capture who Jesus truly is, nor do they explain how or why Jesus saves.
How Does Jesus Save?
Many Christians believe Jesus saves us from God. But that would make God evil for no man is saved from good but from evil. However, Jesus affirms that: “Only God is good.”(Matthew 19:17). Moreover, God is Almighty; therefore no man can be saved from him.
OK, Who is Jesus? How does Jesus save? Why do we need to be saved? And saved from what or who
Let’s look at that.
